Last night I went again to the mountain road where the lights suddenly went out last time. The difference was that, due to the arrival of a typhoon, this time the entire road was dark. I didn’t ride my bike either; instead, I walked around the loop.

Walking in the dark is like singing—an escape from all the routines of daily life. The negation of linguistic tones by songs and melodies creates a pleasure that comes from freedom. And the pitch-black darkness means there is no gaze; the everyday tense grip on the body’s outline can be diffused into the entire night.
